Shooting at Sunset

Location shoot at sunset in Forest RowI had a shoot with Mae in the outskirts of Forest Row a couple of weeks ago. I spend a lot of time using flash lighting in the studio so it was really refreshing to get out into the countryside and use the natural golden light of sunset and a reflector to capture some really atmospheric images.

It was a gorgeous, balmy evening without a cloud in the sky. We started at 7.30pm when the light was getting low and got some great shots of Mae in a colourful summer dress which worked really well. We progressed to a cream outfit and then to the green outfit you see above when the sun got a little lower. At this point, the images became very cinematic. Finally as the sun was getting really low, Mae changed into a black top and jeans for the final set of images where the sun was shining right down the lens and gave some great natural lensflare effects. By 9pm the sun had gotten too low to continue so we 'wrapped' in the knowledge that I had gotten the shots I wanted.

A shoot like this tends to provide a selection of 80-100 shots for you to choose from and they're the sort of shots that just can't be replicated in the studio making them totally unique.
